Mumbai Indians’ wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan sustained an injury on his face and was taken off the field during his side’s IPL match against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai on Tuesday.
The throw by fielder Hardik Pandya in the 13th over of 2nd innings bounced high off the practice pitch area and hit Kishan near his right eye. Kishan was ꧙seen writhing in pain while lying on the ground when the MI medical staff attended to him.
“Ouch, that’s going to hurt that,” one of the TV commentators said.
“Ouch, that really just bounced up from one of the foot holes. He hasn’t got a helmet on. “Wow, that is just rotten luck from nowhere and this is really not a good blow for a wicketkeeper.
“I’ve seen keepers end their careers with blows like this. That’s horrible. “You can see his teammates are really concerned,” he added.
Pandya was in obvious distress as Kishan was treate🐭d with ice packs on the ground by medical staff before getting t🦂o his feet and leaving the ground with a badly swollen eye.
The 19-year-old Ishan Kishan was then re🔯placed by Aditya Tare, who captains Mumbai in domestic tournament✤s.
